Afghanistan: Land in Crisis
National Geographic's Land in Crisis is a collection of lesson plans about Afghanistan that uses interactive geo/polictical maps that have been provided online. Also available are black and white downloadable and printable maps of Afghanistan for classroom use.
Amazing Reef
There are a thousand stories on the amazing reef, each more incredible than the last. Stories of life, friendship, hunger and survival. Which story will you tell? In this movie-making interactive, you can make an animated film about life on a coral reef. Choose an exciting story, cast colorful characters, and animate the movie yourself. Then add music and titles to complete your movie. You can even keep it by downloading it to your own computer.
Amazing Space
Amazing Space promotes the science and majestic beauty of the universe for use in the classroom. The materials are developed for educators and learners of all ages, and are accurate, classroom-friendly, visually appealing, and carefully crafted to adhere to accepted educational standards. Based on the Hubble Space Telescope's greatest discoveries, young people will enjoy learning about the universe we inhabit... and perhaps pursue an even greater understanding of it in the future.
America Responds: Classroom Resources
n the days immediately following the September 11, 2001 terrorism attacks, PBS pulled together resources to help educators teach students about peace, tolerance, war, patriotism, geography, and other related issues. Although time has passed, educators can continue to use these valuable resources to teach lessons on these important subjects.
Ancient Egypt
British Museum's web site on ancient Egypt. These 'Staff Room' pages have been developed to help teachers get the most out of the web site for themselves and for their class. It is intended for schoolchildren aged 7-11 years old and their teachers but we hope that other groups may find it useful too.

ARTSEDGE - the National Arts and Education Network - supports the placement of the arts at the center of the curriculum and advocates creative use of technology to enhance the K-12 educational experience. ARTSEDGE empowers educators to teach in, through, and about the arts by providing the tools to develop interdisciplinary curricula that fully integrate the arts with other academic subjects. ARTSEDGE offers free, standards-based teaching materials for use in and out of the classroom, as well as professional development resources, student materials, and guidelines for arts-based instruction and assessment.

AEMS offers several lesson plans for use with particular Japanese and Chinese films. These were created for AEMS by respected educators.
Ben's Guide to the U.S. Government
Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids is the educational component of GPO Access, the Government Printing Office's (GPO) free online service of official Government information from all three branches of the U.S. Government. Ben's Guide provides information and activities specifically tailored for educators, parents, and students in K-12. These resources can help teach about our government and how it works. They can also teach about the primary source materials on GPO Access, and how citizens can use GPO Access in carrying out their civic responsibilities. And, just as GPO Access provides locator services to U.S. Government sites, Ben's Guide provides a similar service to U.S. Government Web sites developed for kids.
PALS - Performance Assessment Links in Science
PALS is an on-line, standards-based, continually updated resource bank of science performance assessment tasks indexed via the National Science Education Standards (NSES) and various other standards frameworks. The tasks, collected from numerous sources, include student directions and response forms, administration procedures, scoring rubrics, examples of student work, and technical quality data calculated from field testing.
