The School Improvement Research Series (SIRS) includes:

Topical Syntheses of research findings and bibliographic information on special topics
Close-Ups on specific methods and techniques that can be adopted as a part of school improvement efforts including statements of research results, examples of practices, and bibliographic information
Snapshots describing exemplary uses of effective schooling practices

We are interested in receiving nominations for additional topics to investigate in our Topical Syntheses and Close-Ups. These summaries present findings from research on the relationship between teaching and learning practices, on the one hand, and student results (achievement, attitudes, and/or social behavior) on the other.

We are also interested in receiving nomination for sites to visit and write about for our feature Snapshots. To be considered for a snapshot article, a school or district must have implemented some research-supported practice(s) and have data indicating that the practice(s) are making a positive difference with students. The practices may relate to academic achievement, attitudes or social behavior or some combination. We will consider sites anywhere in the U.S. Since the availability of data is one of our criteria for featured sites, please do not nominate a site unless you know that staff have data linking the schooling practice(s) to student results.
