- The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) aims to promote and improve the teaching and learning of languages, identify and solve problems related to language and culture, and serve as a resource for information about language and culture. CAL carries out a wide range of activities including research, teacher education, analysis and dissemination of information, design and development of instructional materials, technical assistance, conference planning, program evaluation, and policy analysis. - The Early Childhood Research Institute on Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS)
- The goal of this Web site is to collect and describe resources for young children with disabilities and their families. CLAS looks for materials and resources that are responsive to the influence of culture and language in the lives of families, children and their service providers. There are descriptions of books, videotapes, articles, manuals, brochures and audiotapes. There is also a collection of reviewed materials, which contain descriptions of the material and reviews by two or more experts with recommendations for use and adaptation. In addition, there are a number of special collections: literature reviews, program descriptions, child find brochures and assessments. Parts of the site can also be read in Spanish.
- Equity Center
- Located at the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory, the Equity Center is one of 10 regional equity assistance centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The Equity Center provides training and technical assistance within the larger context of school improvement to public school personnel, school board members, students, parents, and other community members. It assists public school staff in providing equitable, high-quality education to all learners.

- The National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs to collect, analyze, and disseminate information relating to the effective education of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the U.S. NCELA strives to: address critical issues dealing with the education of linguistically and culturally diverse students in the U.S.; serve as a broker for exemplary practices and research as they relate to the education of linguistically and culturally diverse students; and become a valuable source of information for individuals working in foreign language programs, English as a Second Language programs, Head Start, Title I, Migrant Education, or Adult Education programs.
- Rethinking Schools
- Founded in 1986 by activist teachers, Rethinking Schools is a nonprofit, independent publisher of educational materials. They advocate the reform of elementary and secondary education, with a strong emphasis on issues of race, equity and social justice. In addition to discussing curriculum ideas, this site addresses key policy issues, such as vouchers and marketplace-oriented reforms, funding equity, and school-to-work. Articles from their publications are available on-line.
