Association for Childhood Education International
The mission of the Association for Childhood Education International is to promote and support in the global community the optimal education and development of children, from birth through early adolescence, and to influence the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others who are committed to the needs of children in a changing society. ACEI supports professional educators, parents, and other adults interested in promoting good educational practices for children through its publications and conferences.

Birth to Three
Birth To Three is nationally recognized as a pioneering parent education and support organization. It was established in 1978 to strengthen families and promote positive attitudes about parenting. Its Web site tells about its programs and services, such as the Parent Resource Telephone, the Infant Program, the Toddler Series, the Teenaged Parents Program, Crecer...to grow up (Curriculum in Spanish), Welcome Baby, and the Parent Resource Room. This Web site also gives details about Make Parenting A Pleasure, their curriculum for families with children birth to age five; tells about the authors; and provides an opportunity to order the package.

CASEL (Collaborative to Advance Social and Emotional Learning)
CASEL was founded in 1994 with the mission of establishing social and emotional learning (SEL) as an essential component of education, preschool through high school. CASEL's goals are to advance the science of SEL, translate scientific knowledge into effective school practices, disseminate information about scientifically should SEL educational strategies and practices, enhance educator training, and network and collaborate with scientists, educators, advocates, policy makers, and interested citizens to increase coodination of SEL efforts. The Educational Resources Information Center’s Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education collects and disseminates research, literature, fact sheets, and briefing papers on the physical, cognitive, social, educational and cultural development from birth through early adolescence. Included in the collection is information on prenatal development, parenting and family relationships, learning theory research and practice, teaching, learning and theoretical and philosophical issues pertaining to children’s development and education.

The National Parent Information Network (NPIN)
The NPIN is a project sponsored by two ERIC clearinghouses: the ERIC Clearinghouse on Urban Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City; and the ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The purpose of NPIN is to provide information to parents and those who work with parents and to foster the exchange of parenting materials.

Frank Porter Graham (FPG) Child Development Center
FPG is one of the nation’s oldest multidisciplinary centers for the study of young children and their families. Research and education activities focus on child development and health, especially factors that may put children at risk for developmental problems.

Future of Children
The Future of Children disseminates timely information on major issues related to children's well-being, with special emphasis on providing objective analysis and evaluation, translating existing knowledge into effective programs and policies, and promoting constructive institutional change. They target a multidisciplinary audience of national leaders, including policymakers, practitioners, legislators, executives, and professionals in the public and private sectors. Current and past copies of their publications are available on-line.

Head Start Bureau
Head Start is a child development program that has served low-income children and their families since 1965. This web site is an electronic resource for Head Start service providers, parents, volunteers, and community organizations.

I Am Your Child Campaign
I Am Your Child educates parents and professionals about new discoveries in the process of brain development. The goals of the Campaign are to: raise public awareness and promote citizen engagement regarding the importance of the first three years of life; provide families with young children the information and resources they need to promote healthy development and school readiness; and unite and expand the work being done on the national, state and local levels to provide comprehensive, integrated early childhood development programs that include health care, quality child care, parent education, and intervention programs for families at risk.

NAEYC is a nonprofit professional organization of more than 90,000 members dedicated to improving the quality of care and education provided to our nation’s young children. The association administers the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a voluntary, national, accreditation system for the high-quality early childhood programs, and the National Institute for Early Childhood Professional development, which provides resources and services to improve professional preparation and development of early childhood educators and fosters development of a comprehensive, articulated system of high-quality professional development opportunities. In addition to the monthly journal Young Children, NAEYC also publishes an extensive array of books, brochures, video tapes, and posters.

National Child Care Information Center
The National Child Care Information Center is an Adjunct ERIC Clearinghouse for Child Care. It has been established to complement, enhance and promote child care linkages and to serve as a mechanism for supporting quality, comprehensive services for children and families.

National Center for Early Development & Learning (NCEDL)
Research at the NCEDL focuses on enhancing the cognitive, social and emotional development of children from birth through age eight. Recent publications focus on the areas of transitions, school readiness and child care quality.

The National Council of Teacher of Mathematics (NCTM)
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), founded in 1920, is a nonprofit professional association dedicated to the improvement of mathematics for all students in the United States and Canada. It offers vision, leadership, and avenues of communication for those interested in the teaching and learning of mathematics at the elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and university levels.

National Education Goals Panel
The National Education Goals Panel is an independent executive branch agency of the federal government charged with monitoring and supporting national and state progress toward the National Education Goals. The Goals include: Ready to Learn, School Completion, Student Achievement and Citizenship, Teacher Education and Professional Development, Mathematics and Science, Adult Literacy and Lifelong Learning, Safe, Disciplined, Alcohol and Drug-Free Schools, and Parental Participation.

National Network for Child Care
The National Network for Child Care offers an internet database of over 1000 useful publications and resources; an e-mail listserve - KIDCARE - providing a way to communicate nationally and internationally with others who are about children and child care; support and assistance from four regional offices located in Mississippi, Idaho, Kansas, and Connecticut; national newsletters for family child care, center-base care, and school-age child care.

New Horizons for Learning
Since 1980, New Horizons for Learning has served as a resource for educational change. Their goal is to explore and to help implement ideas that have not yet reached the mainstream, and to work in coordination with other networks and learning communities. For the past several years the organization has been actively engaged in exploring electronic technologies. This web site contains information and links on multicultural education, inclusive education, early childhood, and brain development.

Organizations Serving Child Care and Related Professions
Information dissemination is a priority of the NCCIC. To complement and not duplicate the work of other agencies, the NCCIC promotes linkages with national organizations and clearinghouses. These organizational resources include membership groups, advocacy organizations and researchers. Many of the organizations also have Home Pages, which are linked at this web site. In some cases, more detailed information is provided about an organization, which can be retrieved by clicking on the highlighted name of that organization.

The Regional Educational Laboratories are educational research and development organizations supported by contracts with the U.S. Education Department, Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI).

Appalachia Regional Educational Laboratory
Focuses: rural education and small schools, Indian and migrant education, math and science, and technology. States served: KY, TN, VA, WV.

WestEd
Focuses: whole school reform; assessment and accountability; language and cultural diversity; and early care, intervention and education. States served: AZ, CA, NV, UT.

Mid-continent Regional Educational Laboratory

Reggio Emelia
This section of the ERIC website contains information and resources related to the approach to early childhood education developed in the preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy. The Reggio Emilia approach emphasizes a collaborative approach to the care and education of young children and focuses on children's symbolic languages in the context of a project-oriented curriculum.

U.S. Department of Education Publications
The U.S. Department of Education publishes a wealth of information for teachers, administrators, policymakers, researchers, parents, students, and others with a stake in education.

ZERO TO THREE: National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families
ZERO TO THREE is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated solely to advancing the healthy development of babies and young children. Founded in 1977 by developmental experts, ZERO TO THREE disseminates key developmental information, trains providers, promotes model approaches and standards of practice and works to increase public awareness about the significance of the first three years of life. This website contains resources for both parents and professionals.
