About the Serving Smaller Learning Communities Partnership
Working as a partnership, NWREL, Regional Centers, and DTI Associates Incorporated under contract with the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) provide information and technical assistance to Department of Education SLC grantees. As of March 2006, the Regional Centers include: Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER), University of Wisconsin-Madison (formerly Comprehensive Center-Region VI), Education Alliance at Brown University, SERVE, Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL), and WestEd.
- Currently, the Partnership is responsible for the following activities:
- Running Project Director meetings and Leadership Institutes for grantees during the first six months following the award of the grant
- Supporting APR reporting for grantees via a help desk
- Assembling a list of technical assistance providers (work is in progress)
- Developing online tutorials (work is in progress)
- Assembling a team of Practitioner Leaders to consult with grantees
- Designing an online warehouse to provide grantees with access to tools and resources (work is in progress)
- Conducting site visits to grantees selected for visits by OESE staff
- Conducting Bidder’s Conferences for potential grantees
