Mortar That Binds Arlington High

Other school components support and complement Arlington's smaller learning communities model and the particular student population that attends this school. The district selected for Arlington's helm a seasoned principal with strong collaborative leadership skills. Additional administrative support and curriculum leadership are provided by a schoolwide curriculum coordinator and teachers on special assignments who provide scheduling, resource, and data collection/interpretation assistance.

Student-produced masks on Arlington's walls reinforce the school's responsiveness to diverse cultures and individual expression.

A Learning Communities Council represents staff-member teams and provides a forum for problem solving and policymaking on schoolwide issues. Ongoing group and individual professional development allows teachers to continue to improve in teaming and in their academic areas. The Arlington counseling office and special education staff members work alongside teachers to address special learning needs of students with individualized education plans or limited English proficiency. Organized parent groups reach out to parents of Asian and African American students regarding academic and career planning.
