CostsWhen a school enters a contract for OTE II with NWREL or a regional center, the total fee for service, including trainer travel costs, is generally $54,000 paid over three years of service. This fee can vary slightly from region to region. For schools that are geographically far away from the center, a travel surcharge will be added to cover the higher cost of trainer travel. Centers may deviate somewhat from this fee and the basis for a travel surcharge depending on local operating costs. Additional services, such as an onsite review of existing programs and practices, are available for an extra charge The Schedule of Services describes the training events and technical assistance activities that comprise the OTE II service. This cost information is offered as a guideline. Contact the regional center nearest you or the NWREL national center if you need a more precise cost figure for your school. Beyond the basic fee and travel costs, there are other known costs to the school in the form of release time or substitute coverage for a .25 -.5 FTE site facilitator, and to ensure that leadership team members and faculty can participate fully in the training and follow-up activities. The school may also incur costs associated with implementing new teaching practices that are part of the school's improvement plan. Since the school designs its own improvement plan, these costs will vary. Depending on circumstances, a lower per-school fee can sometimes be negotiated when several schools within a district adopt the model at the same time. Use the Cost Calculation Worksheet to help you further estimate costs for your school.
