The Northwest Sampler On the following pages are descriptions of several after-school programs. Though the programs are all different in design, each seeks to create a safe environment conducive to learning for all students. These Northwest programs are by no means meant to represent an exclusive listing of exemplary programs; rather they are just a few of the many good ones found in the region and throughout the country. Some have been in existence for several years, while others are fledgling efforts. Some have chosen to describe every component of their program, while others wanted to focus on one element alone. Included for each site is location and contact information, a description of the program, observed outcomes as a result of the program, and tips directly from these educators to others looking to implement similar programs in their schools.
