Advisor - Field Coordination

Center for School, Family, & Community - Position Number 08-05

Description

The Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL) improves educational results for children, youth, and adults by providing research and development assistance in delivering equitable, high-quality educational programs. NWREL is a private, nonprofit corporation which has served the Northwest region since 1966 as its Regional Educational Laboratory under contract with the U. S. Department of Education, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies and organizations.

This position will coordinate curriculum and other training & technical assistance processes including training events and meetings, technical assistance webinars and materials development and revision processes.

Duties

  • Coordinate national service field engagement processes
  • Coordinate curriculum and training needs assessments and content development processes
  • Coordinate logistics, schedules and materials production for conferences and other events
  • Coordinate training/technical assistance requests including distance learning and face-to-face
  • Assist with the coordination of training events, curriculum revisions, and general workflow
  • Write and edit materials specifically to support national service programs

Qualifications

Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in education or human services required
Experience: The successful applicant should have the following skills, knowledge, and abilities

  • 3 years experience working within the educational field
  • 3 years experience developing training materials, curriculum, and other educational resources
  • 3 years experience serving in and/or operating national service programs
  • Proficiency in the application and use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing applications
  • Ability to work cooperatively and independently with a diverse range of individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including group facilitation

Desired/Preferred

  • Masters degree in educational or human services

Problem Solving:

  • Prioritize work to meet deadline requirements, including due dates for multiple, time-sensitive projects
  • Selecting data and information resources to use in daily work and team contributions
  • Dividing personal time as a resource between multiple team efforts with different needs and schedules
  • Structuring work products and to meet needs of national service audiences
  • Deciding how to collaborate with Program staff and Directors for the completion of projects

Accountability:

  • NWREL procedures Quality Control, web development and publication standards to assure quality control compliance
  • Self-directed with minimal oversight by supervisor
  • Overall work is reviewed during annual performance evaluation and periodic discussion with supervisor
  • Contract monitoring responsibility primarily as an expense monitor for assigned projects. Some formulation of future projects for a third party group

Physical Demands/Conditions:

Office:

  • Sit for prolonged periods of time, finger dexterity for the operation of a personal computer, operate a telephone, ability to lift or transport small packages weighing up to 35 pounds, frequent interruptions to concentration, interact with a wide range of clients and co-workers.

Travel:

  • Moderate to extensive travel requirements (25% to 40 % of work schedule) including overnight stays out of statey
  • Ability to travel by car, plane or common carrier for out of state and rural travel
  • Ability to transport and/or handle moderate sized packages and materials (up to 35 ponds) at on-site locations

Compensation

Salary range: $40,300 - $69,100 per year based on experience, plus a benefits package that includes vacation, generous employer paid retirement, medical, dental, life insurance, transportation benefit, and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
