September/October 2001 | NW REPORT Video ConferencingFacility Shrinks Geographic Expanses ![]()
The Laboratory boardroom has been transformed into a smartly appointed videoconferencing facility. A 48-square-foot screen presides over the room, flanked by a video camera, cabinet of high-tech controls, and a podium that's rigged with bells and whistles a locomotive might envy. Complementing the Lab's onsite assistance, the facility greatly expands its ability to serve schools, districts, agencies, and others in the Northwest. Equipment was carefully chosen to be compatible with the greatest range of other videoconferencing facilities around the region. To learn more about using videoconferencing for instruction, communication, and collaboration, visit the Technology Center's Digital Bridges Web site at www.netc.org/digitalbridges/. Above, Lab staff and principals from 15 partner schools took part in the inaugural videoconference with Shirley Hord of Southwest Educational Development Laboratory and Dennis Sparks of the National Staff Development Council (onscreen) on instructional leadership and school change. |
