September/October 2001 | NW REPORT New Design forWeb Site Since it was launched in 1995, the Laboratory's Web site has grown to some 12,000 pages of information for educators, parents, policymakers, and others—and it's still growing. To help visitors to www.nwrel.org access this wealth of online information and resources with ease, Web specialists Amber Himes and Vicki Jean Beauchamp created a new design, giving it elegance in both appearance and function. The new design accommodates users with disabilities and others who may be using screen readers or text-only browsers. ![]()
Now, with a simple wave of the mouse, visitors to the home page can easily see what is behind each of six main categories—Home, Up & Coming, Programs & Projects, People, Products & Publications, and Topics—by moving the mouse pointer over the dynamic headings. Entering these categories will take you to useful information on programs, projects, research tools, resource libraries, education topics, products, publications, and more. If you see something you like, a click of your mouse will take you there. Come to the site for a visit. You just might be surprised by how easy it is to reach this virtual mountain of information on teaching and learning. |
