Oregon Parent Information and Resource Center. The Oregon Parent Information and Resource Center’s Web site has a bright new look. The center serves all parents, as well as other adults who work with children and families in the state.

Northwest National Service Symposium Papers. Read the 52 papers submitted, including the 11 that received top honors at the Fourth Annual Northwest National Service Symposium. To recognize the impact of national service activities, the symposium solicited papers from front-line members, educators, and volunteers in the Northwest’s AmeriCorps*USA, AmeriCorps*VISTA, Learn and Serve America, and National Senior Service Corps programs.

Charter Starters 1999. This workbook was developed for NWREL’s 1999 Charter School Leadership Training Academy. It provides materials and resources in the following five core content areas: start-up logistics, regulatory issues, assessment and accountability, governance and management, and community relations.

Tutoring Training Videos. The LEARNS partners at the Bank Street College of Education have produced a series of videos designed to help national service staff train tutors and literacy volunteers. Previews of the videos and ordering information are now available on the LEARNS Web site.

Lifelong Learning on the Web. Check out the new Internet guide to NWREL’s Lifelong Learning series. The guide highlights information from the six booklets in the series and provides students, teachers, administrators, parents, and others with specific ideas for using the booklets.
