Rural Education Representatives from the Rural Education Program’s School-Community Renewal partner sites gathered at the Laboratory last October to discuss how rural schools and communities can forge partnerships with local colleges and universities. Visitors from Kazakhstan Top-level educators from Kazakhstan spent three weeks in September visiting Oregon schools, colleges, and state agencies to learn more about Oregon’s education system. During their tour, they visited NWREL to find out how the Laboratory’s different programs and centers are partnering with schools and communities to improve educational outcomes.
Urban Education Symposium At Parent Perspectives: Challenges and Success of Family Involvement on Academic Achievement, keynote speaker Dr. Reginald M. Clark led a series of activities designed to help parents view themselves as key contributors in their children’s education. Held in Portland last September, the fourth-annual urban symposium hosted by the Urban Education Unit of NWREL’s Equity Center explored how parents and families can work with schools to foster their children’s learning at school and in the home.
