November 1999 REL Annual Report
To learn more about the diverse activities of the 10 Regional Educational Laboratories, check out a copy of Improving America’s Schools Through Educational R&D: Regional Educational Laboratories 1998 Annual Report. The report highlights the year’s major accomplishments and provides glimpses of the work each laboratory is involved in.Among other topics, readers will find out how a struggling Tennessee school district is turning itself around, how 19 Illinois school districts are striving to become first in the world in math and science, and how children in Northwest schools are becoming better, more active readers.
The report also details how the laboratories are creating new tools, and better methods, to improve teaching and learning; providing a host of products and services; and forging networks and partnerships to support state and local education reform. Each laboratory’s service region, national specialty area, and key contacts are also included.
More information about the laboratories is available on the REL Network (www.relnetwork.org), an Internet site developed and maintained by NWREL that links the 10 laboratories and provides updates on their activities.
