Writing Traits Flow as Video Streams. 6+1 Traits
of Writing on the Web has been expanded, enhanced, refreshed, and renewed. There's more background and history about the traits, modes and genres of writing, tips for teaching writing using the traits, a new rubric on the newest trait—presentation, and connections to the world of the primary writer. The revamped site is designed to provide increased technical assistance and support to teachers who are using writing traits. The newest high-tech amenity is video clips to model "how to."

Let's Talk Categories. "Let's Talk," NWREL's monthly newspaper column on education topics for parents and others, is also posted on our Web site. Because of the growing number, the columns have been reorganized with the most recent first, followed by past columns arranged in categories to help readers find the topics they're seeking.

Mentoring Newsletters Go Online. NWREL's National Mentoring Center regularly posts its quarterly newsletter, The National Mentoring Center Bulletin, online. The latest issue shares information on forgotten kids and mentors for kids in foster care. Past issues feature targeted minority recruitment, a successful match profile, and useful Web and library resources, among many other topics.

Northwest Report Reports Range of Products.
The November-December 1999 issue is packed with new products produced by NWREL. For example, it introduces Charter Schools and Community Relations, Assessment: A Development Guidebook for Teachers of English-Language Learners, Bibliography of Assessment Alternatives: Higher-Order Thinking Skills, Assuring Competency in Reading: Resources for Reading Reform, Charter Schools: 1999 Leadership Training Academy Workbook, and WORKplus.
