Northwest Report
February 1998

Flashback

Michelle Bussard was among the participants when educators and others gathered to discuss a model integrated curriculum project built around the 200th anniversary of the explorations of Lewis and Clark. Participants discussed a far-reaching curriculum that would tie the expeditions to all grade levels and across all curriculum areas. The idea, notes Dr. Larry McClure, Director of NWREL’s Education and Work Program, is to study the history of the expeditions to gain some understanding of how they have influenced the present, and imagine how the Northwest will evolve in the next 200 years.
Rich Alford recently began work as NWREL’s Director of Finance and Support Services. He comes to NWREL after seven years as Director of Finance for the Providence Health Systems Long-term Care Division. Alford, a certified public accountant and graduate of Portland State University’s business administration program, lives in Portland with his wife and two children.
