What's New on NWREL's Web Site

The Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory's Web site is bursting with practical information that educators can use in their daily work, both in classrooms and in administrative offices. Here's a look at the latest online offerings:

The School Improvement Research Series X is now available on the NWREL Web site. Access it through the NWREL School Improvement Home Page [http://www.nwrel.org/scpd/], or go directly to Series X [http://www.nwrel.org/scpd/sirs/].

Survey! The Education and Work Program is casting an (electronic) net to identify examples of grades 7-12 curriculum integration of humanities and career-related learning. You can make your contribution by selecting menu item Integration of Humanities and School-to-Work Survey [http://www.nwrel.org/ecc/humanities/].

Two new "Parents: Let's Talk" [http://www.nwrel.org/comm/monthly/index.html]columns, produced by NWREL for parents and the public, have been posted. "Two-Way Street Leads to Learning" and "Teamwork Helps Academic Success" give tips on schools and parents working together, and what might be expected of each.

An alphabetical e-mail directory [http://www.nwrel.org/comm/email.html] of NWREL professional staff is now live.

The winter issue of Northwest Education magazine [http://www.nwrel.org/nwedu/] highlights and explains the importance of the early elementary years; the fall issue shines light on the confusing and heated student-testing debate, both with illuminating stories from Northwest schools.

Teachers in the Northwest are developing moderated Web pages for teachers. Visit the Northwest Educational Technology Consortium Web site [http://www/netc.org/]to see a range of information on the integration of education and technology, including the Web Moderator's Pilot Project under "Hot Topics" and the Circuit newsletter.
