NWREL's 1999 Annual Report to Members takes a look back to 1966, when improving elementary and secondary education became a national priority and the regional educational laboratories were born.
During the past 33 years, NWREL has grown considerably and expanded the scope of its activities. The report describes how the Laboratory's work has evolved to keep pace with changing educational needs and provides an overview of the five research and development programs and seven training and technical assistance centers that currently carry out this work. It also highlights the past year's accomplishments, which include: developing new products and publications; conducting workshops, conferences, consultations, and other training activities; performing information searches in response to client requests; expanding the NWREL Web site; and translating popular products into Spanish. |
