NWREL joined with ESD 123 of Pasco, Washington, to present a two-day workshop on different models of PLCs, including lesson study, professional learning teams, and critical friends groups. Representatives from state education agencies and five of the REL laboratories traveled to Portland to provide feedback on NWREL's Field Guide for External Change Facilitators. The group looked at the guide's user friendliness, use of real-world examples, and suggested resources. The publication, which is designed to be used in the school improvement process, will be published in December. Here, Cathy Fromme from Washington's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, reviews one of the book's chapters.
