September-October 2003 | NW REPORT
With beautiful illustrations and wide-ranging titles, The Indian Reading Series: Stories and Legends of the Northwest offers a wealth of culturally relevant materials for Native students. From Chipmunk Meets Old Witch to Coyote and the Stars, the series comprises 140 stories written by local Indian authors and illustrated by Indian artists.
Out of print for several years, the booklets are available free of charge on NWRELs Web site at www.nwrel.org/indianed/indianreading. The first few levels, each containing about 20 titles, have already been posted. Additional titles will appear throughout the year.
