Focus on Writing—The Winter 2002 issue of Northwest Education explores promising teaching methods for writing, including the shift in focus from product to process and the use of writers’ workshops/peer editing to encourage revision and refinement. Ideas from classrooms around the Northwest help answer the question, "What motivates students to write?" And Northwest authors speak about their own classroom writing experiences in an article titled, "What They Remember." A 17-page special section focuses on the processes and products associated with the 6+1 Trait™ Writing Assessment and Instruction Model. [www.nwrel.org/nwedu/08-02/]
