May/August 2002 | NW REPORT
With the broadest rewriting of federal education policy since the 1960s signed into law recently, now is a good time, as the new Act states, to "Focus on What Works." This school year, the Laboratory's flagship conference, Education Now and in the Future, will take place February 10-11, 2003, in Portland's vibrant downtown district. More than 500 educators attend ENF each year to explore models and methods of serving all students more effectively. Sessions offer information and techniques developed to address multiple critical issues in education.
Researchers, trainers, developers, and practitioners are invited to submit presentation proposals. Proposals should be based on reliable research and effective practices that lead to increased learning and higher-performing schools. Proposed sessions should be focused and interactive, modeling the settings in which people learn best. A wide variety of proposals are encouraged, from early childhood development to teacher education; from rural, suburban, and urban locations; and from beginning to veteran practitioners, administrators, and policymakers.
To submit a session proposal, visit the conference Web site, www.nwrel.org/enf/, or e-mail enf@nwrel.org or call 503-275-9187.
Proposals are due by July 15, 2002.
