National Mathematics Advisory Panel Final Report

Description

The National Mathematics Panel was created by an executive order in April 2006 with the charge of providing recommendations to the President and U.S. Secretary of Education on the best use of scientifically based research to advance the teaching and learning of mathematics. The Panel was composed of experts in a variety of fields including mathematicians, cognitive psychologists, and mathematics educators. Following an extentive review of research studies, the Panel issued its final report on March 13, 2008 containing guidance on how to improve mathematics achievement for all students in the United States. The document contains 45 findings and recommendations on numerous topics including instructional practices, materials, professional development, and assessments.
