Indian Education - A Regional Symposium

Connecting Statewide Systems of Support and Indian Education
June 27 - 28, 2007

Description

The goal of the symposium was to assist SEAs in the coordination and integration of state Indian education programs and resources with the Statewide System of Support required by NCLB. A total of 31 participants including individuals from State Education Agencies (SEAs) in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming attended the two day event. Participants learned about: typical services and resources available through Title VII Indian Education programs and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Indian Education; recent NSF research on teaching math to at risk youth and a variety promising practices in Indian education. They also engaged in cross-state and intra-state sharing and collaboration.
