Wee Can Write

Learn NWREL’s 6+1 Trait® Writing model using renowned children’s literature that young students (upper preschool–primary) know and love. Teachers will get comfortable with the 6+1 Trait® Writing vocabulary so they can share with their students a common language to talk about writing each day, and provide them with a solid foundation for writing throughout their school lives. Taught by one of the authors of the popular Wee Can Write guidebook, this workshop offers a variety of practical activities that are flexible, creative, take no more than a few minutes to prepare, and can be implemented in the classroom the next day.

April 12–13, 2007
Improving Adolescent Reading and Mathematics: Professional Learning Teams in Action

Get the latest research on best practices related to teaching reading and mathematics to middle and high school students. This workshop is designed for district and building staff in leadership roles, teachers, and teacher-leaders who need to boost adolescents’ achievement in these two content areas. Workshop facilitators will assist participants in assessing their district’s and school’s approaches to meeting adolescents’ learning needs. They’ll offer strategies for implementing professional learning teams to improve student learning.
