ForumInspiring EducatorsThis article (“To Realize the Dream” in fall 2002) was well-written and very inspirational. I am in my office at 10 p.m. on this very hot night but I am spurred on to read your magazine because the articles are so motivational. “To Realize the Dream” reinforced the possibilities that await our minority students if we view our role as a mission as opposed to just a job. This article encourages me in my struggle, for it provides ways to raise the “bar” that are practical and clear-cut. As I am beginning my education doctorate, this article proves significant to my research. Job well-done! Adrienne Spencer Thank you for making me feel good about myself! Denise J. Weeks did an outstanding job with this story (“Under the Same Sun,” winter 2001). People are the builders, makers, and shapers of this world. Knowledge is the basic foundation, but without understanding it is nothing. Dorothy M. Epchook Spanish Language Learning OnlineJust an addition to the information in the article “Portal to Opportunity” (spring 2006): New York University has an agreement similar to Washington’s with INEA and the Mexican Ministry of Public Education and is another state that is operating a CONEVyT Web portal for its students. NYU is in the process of aligning the materials to the NYS Standards and is operating about 15 Plazas Comunitarias in the New York City area. See http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/metrocenter/Plazas.html for more information. Marguerite Lukes We want to hear from you!
