Let Us Hear From You

Apples and Orchards

I have just finished reading "Apple Orchard Lush With Life's Lessons" and "A Word From the Director." Wanted to congratulate you on a great publication—I will share it with the Caldwell School District administrative team. Great work.

Lesson Study

We are starting to use the lesson study approach working with teams of middle and high school mathematics teachers. We saw a copy of the NW Teacher issue focused on lesson study—it's really nice and nicely captures lesson study work going on across the country.

June Mark, Education Development Center, Inc. Newton, Massachusetts

A Word of Thanks

I work with beginning teachers. I think your Northwest Teacher magazine is outstanding. It's a great resource for anyone who teaches math and science. Thanks.

Carole Sutherland; Los Angeles, California

Inspired by Personal Stories

I'm starting my fifth year of teaching this fall. I teach history, geography, math, and language arts in French immersion. I began my Master of Education degree this summer. I just wanted to let you know that I found many of the articles in your journal inspiring. I especially appreciated the personal stories from the teachers. I will try out some of the ideas this year, especially regarding problem solving. Thank you for the positive stories. irene priest

Teachers as Learners

Editors' note: Northwest Teacher was used to spark discussion and reflection at this school's all-staff retreat last summer.

We used the "Classroom Assessment" magazine one day and the "Differentiated Instruction" magazine the next day. This was used with our whole staff (teachers, para's, custodian, office manager, Title I, special education, music, PE, etc.) É It has been a GREAT teaching and learning tool and we thank you. randy stocker
