ABOUT ISTEP | UPCOMING EVENTS | GOALS | LINKS | CONTACT INFO ISTEP GoalsOur goal is to raise the bar in mathematics understanding and performance in every classroom in the state by enriching the background of our teachers. This program is described in detail on the next page of this handout. The following pages give a sample lesson that is tied to the achievement standards proposed by the State Board of Education and will serve as an example of just what we are striving to accomplish. The last two pages give the names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the 30 teachers trained in the ISTEP Middle School class this summer. We urge you to hire them to present in-service for your middle school mathematics teachers. There is someone on this list that lives close to your school and is ready to assist you. If you have a dynamite math teacher in your school district who is not on this list and who you would like to see become a part of our team, just send me their name, address, email address, and phone number so I can contact them and we will include them. Next summer we plan training for both Elementary Teachers and Middle School Teachers and we hope to include a High School program in summer 2003. Two of our board members were not listed due to an oversight, but are an important part of our program. They are Rainey Pieters-Mathematics Supervisor for the Boise School System and Sharon Walen-Mathematics Education Professor at Boise State University. Bob Firman |
