Providing Quality Youth Mentoring in Schools & Communities Series
The NMC has recently updated and resived several of its key publications, made possible with generous support from the Hamilton Fish Institute on School and Community Violence at the George Washington University and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention . The Providing Quality Youth Mentoring in Schools and Communities series offer practitioners a research-based model for designing and implementing a successful youth mentoring program. The series provides both general program development tools, as well as specific resources to address key areas such as training volunteers and planning for program sustainability. The six revised titles in the series can be downloaded (in PDF format) by clicking the links below:
- Foundations of Successful Youth Mentoring. Our cornerstone resource for developing all types of youth mentoring programs across a variety of settings. It is a useful resource for start-up efforts and established programs alike.
- Generic Mentoring Program Policy and Procedure Manual. This resource makes it simple for mentoring programs to create their own customized manual to guide both policy and day-to-day services. Be sure to download the Customizable Template version in Word format as well.
- The ABCs of School-Based Mentoring. This newly revised version incorporates the latest research from Public/Private Ventures and other mentoring leaders into a guide for school and community partners.
- Training New Mentors. A comprehensive guide to providing mentors with initial training, complete with over a dozen ready-to-use training activities.
- Building Relationships: A Guide for New Mentors. This resource is a great mentor training supplement, providing mentors with ten simple tips for effective relationship development.
- Sustainability Planning and Resource Development for Youth Mentoring Programs. This resource examines effective planning strategies, corporate giving, foundation support, government grants, individual giving campaigns, local fundraising events, and short articles on the ethics of fundraising and increasing board involvement.
