While it is not ideal that Marcus does not have the book and has delayed completing the assignment until the last minute, Abby must work with Marcus to help him develop an understanding of how to avoid this kind of situation in the future. In addition, she does not want to penalize him for being disorganized; rather, her role can be to help him learn to organize his supplies and time so that this kind of situation does not repeat itself.

Abby decides to help Marcus prepare a book report that he can turn in tomorrow. Their first step will be a discussion about the book to refresh Marcus's memory of the story. Then, she and Marcus can begin to create a plan for completing the report. Abby is careful to avoid giving Marcus answers to the assigned questions.
