- America Counts Home page is a multi-faceted federal initiative to improve student performance in mathematics. Learn about the six strategic areas prioritized for federal resources, technical assistance services, special initiatives and national reports on math education such as NAEP and TIMSS.
- America Counts Training Modules. Are you responsible for training America Counts tutors? If so, this site developed by the Southeast Eisenhower Regional Consortium for Mathematics and Science is for you. It contains training scripts for two hour and four hour training sessions as well as tutoring tips and other America Counts links.
- America Counts Tutoring Road Map is a comprehensive tool to guide you through the stages of starting, delivering, sustaining and evaluating a math tutoring program. The Tutoring Road Map includes tutor training resources, transportation tips, and strategies for building campus-community partnerships. Tutoring materials include those suitable for use in mathematics tutoring sessions, such as activities, videos, games, computer software, web sites, and children's literature organized along grade bands and content strands.
- E-Math: A Guide to E-mail Based Volunteer Programs Designed to Help Students Master Challenging Mathematics, Science and Technology is a complete resource for innovative volunteer programs such as telementoring, question-and-answer e-mail based programs, and more. Learn about a wide range of e-mail based volunteer programs that are designed to support student learning in math, science and technology.
- Figure This! Math Challenges for Families is a fun site that provides interesting math challenges that middle school students can do at home with their families. Cartoon characters named Polygon, Tessellation, Exponent, Tangent, and Axis illustrate the challenge features. They think math is great! This would be a fun site to include in your out-of-school time programs as well.
- Helping Your Child Learn Math is an online guide for parents to support their child's learning in math. The book is divided into introductory material that explains the basic principles behind the current approaches to math, sections on activities you can do with your children, and lists of resources.
- Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory Math and Science Education Center provides Northwest K-12 educators with resources and services to support challenging, effective mathematics and science curriculum, instruction, and assessment for all students. The site includes technical assistance and research, a resource collection, publications and videos, links, and announcements of upcoming opportunities in the Northwest. WestED also features a comprehensive math education site with access to publications, resources, and projects on math education.
- Math PARTNERS: Mathematics Mentoring for America's Youth is a project that is developing a mentoring curriculum to accompany the America Counts Mathematics initiative. The site includes downloadable materials on mentoring, announcements on upcoming events and opportunities and contact information for Math PARTNERS staff.
- TIMSS Study: Third International Mathematics and Science Study is a large-scale report on the mathematics and science achievement of U.S. students compared to that of students in other countries. Conducted in 1995 involving 42 countries at three grade levels, TIMSS was the largest, most comprehensive and rigorous assessment of its kind ever undertaken.
