6+1 Trait® Writing for Trainers Institute--SOLD OUTJuly 8–10, 2008
Overview
This training of trainers’ institute is for people wishing to conduct their own in-district 6+1 Trait workshops. All participants must be trained in the 6+1 Trait Writing Model of Instruction & Assessment, and its application in the classroom. (The 6+1 Trait Introductory Institute is a prerequisite to this advanced course.)
- Day One activities focus on content, including a review of the 6+1 Trait Writing Model and related research.
- Day Two focuses on connections, beginning with a look at balanced literacy--connecting reading with writing. We will then move on to assessing writing, planning lessons for trait writing, setting goals, and monitoring growth in writing, as well as exploring ways to connect with family.
- Day Three focuses on communication by planning and designing trait training workshops of varying duration and purpose. It will include time to begin planning your own presentation. Come with a workshop objective in mind to make this day more productive.
An Adult-Learning Strand will be modeled, discussed, and showcased throughout the three-day institute.
