6+1 Trait® Writing Introductory Institute for Teachers of Grades 4–12 (Stevenson, WA)May 27–29, 2008
Participants
Classroom, special education, and ELL teachers; literacy coaches and trainers; curriculum specialists; and school and district administrators are encouraged to attend.
Participants will learn to evaluate student writing across the seven traits of performance: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, plus presentation. After becoming familiar with the traits, teachers will practice using them to assess and provide effective feedback on student writing. The second day will focus on integrating the traits into classroom instructional practice.
The 6+1 Trait® Writing Assessment: Introductory Institute (or comparable NWREL on-site workshop) is a prerequisite for educators who wish to register for our advanced institutes.
