Wee Can Write: Using 6+1 Trait Strategies with Renowned Children's Literature Workshop
In this full-day workshop designed for teachers of kindergarten or beginning writers, the vocabulary of 6+1 Trait Writing will be an added focus. The teaching ideas use familiar literature titles that youngest students love. Participants will practice using the traits through oral language, reading, listening, and writing activities so that they become comfortable using the writing traits to improve students' communication skills. The vocabulary of the traits provides common words that participants can use to talk to students about writing each day, which will provide a solid foundation for writing throughout students' lives. This workshop provides a wealth of activities using award-winning literature titles found in school libraries or on personal bookshelves that are flexible, creative, and take no more than five minutes to prepare.
This service can be customized for:
Teachers, instructional assistants, and administrators of beginning writers (preschool, kindergarten, Head Start, and first grade students)
