Preparing for the Sacramento field trip

You can use www.leginfo.ca.gov/bilinfo.html as a resource. Scroll down the page until you find the section that allows you to search for the bill by topic or number. Make sure the bill you choose is current and active. Print out the first page, including the summary, of the bill you select.

At the www.leginfo.ca.gov/bilinfo.html Web site, click on the status of your bill. Has it been revised twice? Has it passed the Assembly? Is it on its way to the Senate?)

4. The commitee currently hearing the bill is . . .

If the commitee resides in the Senate, go to www.sen.ca.gov/ and find the commitee chairperson's address using the commitee roster. If the commitee resides in the Assembly, go to www.assembly.ca.gov/ and do the same.

5. The author of the bill is . . . . His or her address is . . . .

If the author is in the Senate, go to www.sen.ca.gov/ and find the commitee chairperson's e-mail address using the Senate roster. If the author is in the Assembly, go to www.assembly.ca.gov/ and do the same.

Your senator's name and address, e-mail, and party affiliation.

Your assembly person's name and address, e-mail, and party affiliation.
