As AmeriCorps moves into a third year of operations, the "baby" has grown into an energetic, feisty "toddler." Program directors and staff now have at least a year of experience under the belt-enough to articulate what works-and what still needs work with their AmeriCorps program.
State commission directors in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington are inviting program staff from the four states to a first-ever meeting in one locale to reflect on and share experience with each other, and to gain tools for the coming year. The meeting will be held in Portland (August 19-21), at Portland State University. Area hotel rooms will be blocked. Expect more detailed information to come to you soon!
A look at topics that will be covered in the three day meeting:
- Sustainability - what can this look like for my AmeriCorps program?
- Evaluation, Part II - with STAR (Support and Training for Assessing Results) and NWREL (Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory)
- Communication tools for multi-site placement staff and Collaborative fundraising
- Internet support development - how will the Corporation help?
This is just a preliminary list of topics programs have targeted. AmeriCorps Network NW staff will be sending you a needs assessment and working with state commission directors to refine this list and identify resources over the next month.
In the meantime, save the date! August is a super month (usually dry and sunny) to come to Portland, network, and learn from your AmeriCorps peers!
