Welcome!
AmeriCorps Network NW provides training and technical assistance to national service staff in Washington and Oregon. We offer consultation for staff via phone, e-mail, and through on-site training. We also provide training at statewide member events. In addition, we coordinate unique Northwest events that have garnered national attention: the NW National Service Symposium for national service participants, the Network NW Conference for national service staff, and the NW Leader Corps for national service members.
AmeriCorps Network NW is staffed by the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory, with a 34-year history of providing service to educational agencies and community organizations across the Northwest. Activities of AmeriCorps Network NW are guided by the executive directors of the Oregon and Washington Commissions for National and Community Service. The following describes our major activity areas:
Training and Technical Assistance
- Conduct on-site training for staff of national service programs, and at statewide member events. Training topics include sustainability, program development, multi-site management, and much more!
- Assist program staff in designing and developing training for members.
- Broker low cost training from local consultants and national technical assistance providers.
- Coordinate "train the trainer" events for program staff on topics such as career transitions, tutoring, stress management, and working respectfully with families.
- Promote peer exchange by connecting and referring programs to other staff working in similar areas or conducting innovative projects.
- Conduct individualized technical assistance and research per request by phone and e-mail.
Curriculum Design and Dissemination
- Design and distribute curriculum for member training in topics such as career transitions, stress management, tutor training, and reflection. Assist staff with adapting curriculum to their specific program needs.
- Research resources, available curriculum, and other materials in various topic areas as requested by program staff.
- Share effective practices for national service programs that have emerged in the Northwest and nationally.
Program Evaluation
- Produce evaluation reports documenting the progress, successes, and challenges of AmeriCorps programs in Oregon and Washington.
- Conduct in-depth case studies and cost-benefit analysis of specific Northwest AmeriCorps programs, and share emerging research and best practices with all programs in the Northwest.
