SLC Implementation Workshops
Workshop I: Planning, Extending and Improving SLC Practice will acquaint school teams with best practices drawn from research and successful schools; provide for self-assessment of current practice; and employ tools for planning SLCs and professional development. The workshop curriculum will be organized around three domains of best SLC practice: Interdisciplinary teaching and learning teams; Rigorous and relevant curriculum and instruction; and Inclusive programs and practices.Workshop II: An opportunity for in-depth consideration of what it takes to develop SLCs that support instructional innovation and improvement. Participants are asked to bring information about their staffing, curriculum offerings, special education programs, and academic departments in order to take stock of these practices and generate ideas about how to modify them to support for SLCs.

| SLC National Conference 2008 "From Structure to Instruction: Sharing Best Practices and Lessons Learned in SLCs and Small Schools"
In partnership with National Academy Foundation (NAF) and the Career Academy Support Network (CASN), and Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL), this SLC conference is designed by practitioners for practitioners to provide teachers, administrators and district staff with tools and strategies to strengthen their SLC practice. The conference is designed and delivered by experienced SLC practitioners as they reach out to other grantees to support their implementation. |
