Join Us in Our Goal: High-Performing Schools and High-Achieving Students

NWREL's mission is to improve educational results for children, youth, and adults by providing research and development assistance in delivering equitable, high-quality educational programs. NWREL provides research and development assistance to education, government, community agencies, business, and labor.

Membership Eligibility

To be eligible for NWREL membership, an organization, institution, or agency must:

  1. Have its headquarters in an affiliated state: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington
  2. Have an independent governing board
  3. Have a resolution adopted by that governing board requesting membership and stating a commitment to the mission of the Laboratory

There is no cost for membership. Each member institution designates a representative for liaison with NWREL.

  • Opportunities to participate in the NWREL biennial needs assessment identifying emerging trends and needs
  • Unrestricted access to NWREL's comprehensive Web site, including a special area for members
  • Opportunity to participate in the development and testing of new materials and procedures for improving education
  • Technical assistance in planning, implementing, and evaluating local educational programs
  • Newsletters and other information on new products and practices available for use in local schools
  • Resources for planning and implementing effective schooling practices
  • Participate in electing a person to represent member institutions from its state on the NWREL Board of Directors

Current Members

We currently have 934 member institutions. These Northwest agencies and organizations are the primary clients for NWREL services and collaborate in carrying out educational research and development work.

Become a NWREL Member

The governing board of the organization must adopt a resolution seeking membership and supporting active participation in the work of NWREL. An application and a copy of the resolution should be submitted to:

Approval

The NWREL Board of Directors will approve the organization's application if its membership is determined to be in the best interest of NWREL, based on congruence of: (1) mission and goals and (2) equal educational and employment goals.
