Our Mission

The mission of the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL) is to improve learning by building capacity in schools, families, and communities through applied research and development.

Our Vision

NWREL is, first and foremost, a place where people work to make a positive difference in the lives of students and those who support their learning. It is a place where productive, creative, and solid work occurs in a respectful, collegial atmosphere. It is a learning community where we reflect on our practice, are held accountable for our work, and continually strive to improve. It is an environment that embraces diversity and stimulates both creative and practical solutions to the educational problems in the Northwest region in particular, and in other parts of the world as well.

Our Beliefs

  • Learning is a lifelong process in which all can succeed
  • Schools and communities share responsibility for providing equitable access to and support for high-quality teaching and learning
  • NWREL’s role is to provide evidence-based tools and strategies that build capacity to improve learning
