By the numbers, our five-state region looks like this:
- 2,305,873 school-age children
- 100,000 teachers
- 1,100 local education agencies
- 5,700 schools, of which 1,066 didn’t achieve adequate yearly progress
But statistics don’t tell the whole story. In the pages that follow, we feature some of the people, schools, and programs that have been touched by the Laboratory’s efforts to strengthen teaching and learning; improve teachers’ access to and use of research and assessment results; bolster schoolwide reform; and engage parents and communities in their children’s education.
