The Institution
NWREL is a private, nonprofit
corporation established in 1966.
GOVERNANCE AND POLICYMAKING NWREL is governed by a 26-member Board of Directors representing constituent groups in the Northwest. Nine advisory committees review and provide advice in priority areas of NWREL research, development, training, and technical assistance work.
STAFF The 194 NWREL staff members include 103 long-term
professional staff, 29 with doctorates from 22 major universities.
FINANCIAL RESOURCES Laboratory resources for 1998 totaled
$15.6 million, the largest annual amount in NWREL's 32-year history.
Organizations in 27 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, and
China awarded NWREL 187 new contracts and grants in 1998.
MEMBER INSTITUTIONS A total of 829 member institutions are
primary clients for NWREL services and collaborate in educational
research and development work. Sixteen Northwest school districts
and organizations became new NWREL member institutions in 1998.
