Improving Student Success Through School, Family, and Community Partnerships: Where Do We Go From Here?
Debbie Ellis
August 2000On July 21, 2000, an invitational conference, Improving Student Success Through School, Family, and Community Partnerships: Where Do We Go From Here?, was held at the Airport Holiday Inn, Portland, Oregon.
The conference goals were:
- To share information on the status of national, regional, and local partnership efforts
- To obtain input from participants on emerging needs within NWREL's five-state region and inform the direction of future Laboratory work in the area of partnership development.
Unlike many conferences, this one sought mainly to obtain information from participants. Therefore, it was carefully designed to provide a forum for participants to learn more about the field from a nationally recognized speaker as well as to offer several opportunities for participants to listen to one another and to offer their own thoughts, opinions, and experiences.
This conference proceedings document provides an overview of the speakers' discussions and the participants' comments and suggestions. It pulls together all the information gained from the conference in order to discuss the options and alternatives for long-term R&D work for improving school-family-community partnerships that were gleaned from the region and to help inform work that might be done during the next five years.
