Successful Early Childhood Education in an Imperfect World
Lessons Learned from Four Northwest SchoolsRebecca Novick, Ph.D.
November 1996School staff are ultimately the ones who must turn our growing knowledge of human development into learning experiences for children. This research report begins to answer the question of what these learning theories look like in actual classroom practice through profiles of four Northwest schools and closeups of selected classrooms. The material in the report comes from the past year's study of innovative Northwest schools as educators change their educational practices at Cherry Valley Elementary School, Polson, Montana; Helen Baller Elementary School, Camas, Washington; Harborview/Capital Elementary School, Juneau, Alaska; Mary Harrison Elementary School, Toledo, Oregon.
