Vision Building Tips

It is important for a partnership to establish and then re-visit their vision statement. If a partnership is to reflect community and respond to change it needs to be flexible. Revisiting a vision statement doesn't have to be a time consuming event. Structurally, collaborations are in change when new people and partnerships are added and subtracted, or when communities change, or when their strengths and needs change. If a collaboration is to survive then change needs to be part of their structure. A re-visit with a vision statement does the job of bringing new members up to speed, serves as selfchecks on goals, and follows the direction of the partnership.

The activities within this section are designed to be helpful tools for partnerships. They have been designed with the idea that a vision statement is not a one-time activity, but rather an organic entity that is ever changing. If a collaboration wants to continue movement into the future then there needs to be a way to reflect just that. These activities are meant to be part of a renewal process for partnerships.

Activities are for:

  • Vision building and goal setting for new partnerships
  • Re-visit of vision statements for renewal purposes
  • Reflection on a vision statement as a self check

Each activity can be incorporated into a gathering of the partnership members. These are add-ons for a partnership to use with the intention of aiding in discussions.
